Actress Valerie Bertinelli, star of such sitcoms as “One Day at a Time” and “Hot in Cleveland,” has filed for a legal separation from her husband Tom Vitale, Page Six reported.
The “One Day at a Time” star, 57, and Tom Vitale, 48, a clothing designer, have been married since 2001 and have three children.
According to documents obtained by Page Six, Valerie Bertinelli cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. She also “requested the ability to continue to have sole legal and physical custody of her children.”
The couple’s three children, Briana, Augustus and Christopher, will live with her in Los Angeles while their father stays in New York.
Page Six reported that the separation was sparked by Tom Vitale’s alleged affair with another woman. The website stated that sources told it that Tom Vitale had an extramarital affair with a nurse after he discovered that Valerie Bertinelli was with another man.
According to The Blast, Tom Vitale, known as “Vic,” is the founder of Fashion Nova, a clothing brand.
Page Six also reported that Tom Vitale was with one of the women who confronted Valerie Bertinelli in the wake of her alleged affair with another man.
Valerie Bertinelli’s representative was not immediately available for comment.
